Miami Heat icon Dwyane Wade accomplished more during his time in Miami than any player who’s ever suited up for the franchise. He was key to the Heat winning each of their first three titles in team history in 2006, 2012 and 2013, and he earned countless individual accolades with Miami as well.
However, Wade still doesn’t think that he’s the greatest player who’s ever donned a Heat uniform. He made it clear that while he believes he has the greatest body of work in team history, star forward LeBron James is greatest player to ever put on a Heat jersey.
“I have the greatest body of work of anybody that’s ever put a Miami Heat jersey on,” Wade said. “If you wanna be honest, LeBron James is the greatest player to ever put a Miami Heat jersey on, if we’re going off of that.
“I’m the greatest player in the history of the Miami Heat of the body of work that I had wearing that jersey, but I’m not the greatest player to ever put on a Miami Heat jersey.”
James played alongside Wade on the Heat for just four seasons but accomplished so much playing for the organization in that time. The now 40-year-old was the team’s definitive best player during the Big 3 era, as he finished in the top three in MVP voting in every one of his seasons in Miami and even won back-to-back MVPs in the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.
The forward also took home Finals MVP awards at the end of both of the Heat’s title runs in the Big 3 era.
However, what cements James as the best player ever to play for the Heat organization is all that he’s accomplished over the course of his career with multiple teams. He’s a four-time champion who’s won a championship with three different teams. He is also the league’s all-time leading scorer and a four-time MVP.
For all that James has already accomplished in the NBA, he intends to keep his pro career going strong in the 2025-26 campaign. He can set another league record by playing one more season in the NBA, as it would mark his 23rd campaign in the league, and no single player has suited up in more than 22.
James will look to win his fifth NBA title next season and his first championship since the year 2020. His Los Angeles Lakers got booted out of the 2025 NBA Playoffs in the opening round at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
