4. “Nah, I’m Good”
After practice, center Samuel Dalambert and Coach Pete Carril would try to teach him shot blocking techniques and after practice one day Dalembert said to Whiteside, “Hey let’s go, coach is waiting there for us,” and Whiteside responded, “Nah, I’m good.”
Then Dalembert said, “Hey no dude, you’re coming over to work on your post moves,” which Whiteside responded with again, “Nah, nah, I’m good.”
At this point Dalembert got really upset and said, “Dude, it’s not an option, you are coming over right now and working out with us.” And Hassan finally said, “Fine, I’ll give you 10 reps and then I’m done.”
