Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid had an amazing performance in his team’s 115-109 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night. Embiid got close to a quadruple-double, recording 46 points, 15 rebounds, seven assists, and seven blocks. Speaking to reporters after the game, the 7-footer gave a shout out to Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside.

“I heard that it has never been done in the league ever before,” said Embiid. “I wish I could have had a quadruple-double in blocks, shoutout Hassan Whiteside. But I mean, like I said I just went out there and played basketball.”
There have only been four quadruple-doubles in NBA history. They were recorded by Nate Thurmond, Alvin Robertson, Hakeem Olajuwon, and David Robinson.
There is a little bit of history between Embiid and Whiteside. After a preseason game between the 76ers and Heat, Embiid took some shots at Whiteside. Whiteside then responded on Twitter, where the two exchanged jabs.
The two teams will meet for the first time this season on Friday, Feb. 2 in Philadelphia. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN.
