The recent reports regarding Miami Heat shooting guard Dion Waiters have been incredibly positive as of late, and on Wednesday afternoon, Heat fans finally got the news they have been waiting for all season long.

Waiters being cleared for full contact and being listed as day-to-day are strong indications that he will be ready to take the court very soon. Surely, he will take some time to get back to his pre-injury form and fitness, but it is great news that Waiters’ ankle is back to full strength following surgery last January.
Now, with Waiters seemingly on the verge of returning to the court, the Heat will have to decide whether his value lies with the team, or as a trade piece.
Last season, Waiters averaged 14.3 points per game on just 39.8 percent shooting from the field before his season-ending surgery took place. With the Heat already quite crowded at the shooting guard position, it is possible that they will try to deal Waiters in an attempt to clear up some much-needed cap space.
On the other hand, with the recent news that point guard Goran Dragic will miss significant time due to a knee injury, Waiters’ scoring ability will surely be a most welcome addition to the Miami rotation.
While his future in Miami may be somewhat unclear at the moment, it is great news to hear that Waiters is making the final strides in his recovery. At times, he has shown the ability to be a good team’s primary or secondary scorer. He will look to return to that form when his number is finally called.
