In the wake of Dwyane Wade’s retirement, it seems like the Miami Heat are plotting how they will return to the NBA’s mountaintop once again.
According to Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel, if the Heat were to try to make a trade for Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal, it could get complicated in terms of trying to match his salary, which is reported to be $27 million next season.
A hypothetical Beal trade would have to involve Goran Dragic, who will make $19.2 million this upcoming season. There have been rumors that the Heat are trying to unload Dragic and his contract in an attempt to get underneath the salary cap.
Other options to package along with Dragic could be veteran forward James Johnson or big man Kelly Olynyk. Another possibility could be including Ryan Anderson, who is coming off of a disappointing season but has one year remaining on his contract at $21.3 million.
Beal, who just turned 26, averaged career highs in points (25.6), assists (5.5) and rebounds (5.0) in 2018-19 while shooting 47.5 percent from the field and 35.1 percent from behind the three-point line. He has been named to the NBA All-Star Game in each of the past two seasons.
