Justise Winslow Believes Miami Heat Can Be His Team Soon

Early Monday morning Pat Riley dropped a bomb, letting the public know that Chris Bosh’s career with the Miami Heat was over due to recurring blood clots. It not only marked the end of a long road between Bosh and the Heat, but showed the beginning of a new era in the Heat world .

With Bosh’s career over and face of the franchise Dwyane Wade back home, a new star will have to rise and take the ropes in South Florida. That player appears to be sophomore Justise Winslow.

Winslow, 20, told Ethan J. Skolnick of the Miami Herald, that he believes the Heat can be his team soon.

Although this was always the Heat’s intention, the time has come fairly sooner than expected. The 10th pick in the 2015 NBA draft showed tons of potential last season, despite averaging a mere 6.4 points and 5.2 rebounds in just 28.6 minutes off the bench.

That won’t be the case this year. The youngster will start at small forward and command a much a bigger role on the team. Starters Hassan Whiteside and Goran Dragic take up a lot of the salary cap in Miami, but Winslow will be granted all the attention he can get.

Despite having a special defensive intelligence, Winslow has loads of work to do on the offensive side of the court. He’ll get much more touches this year but will have to learn on the go.

If Winslow could develop similarly to San Antonio Spurs superstar Kawhi Leonard, who had similar numbers his first year in the league, there is no doubt the Heat will be his team soon.
