In the Miami Heat’s win over the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night, Dwyane Wade made history when he passed Michael Jordan for the most blocked shots by a guard.
The history-making swat happened early in the second quarter when Wade came from behind and got a hand on Hawks shooting guard B.J. Johnson.
Following the game, Wade took Instagram to share a brief message about what it means to be the new record holder.

Wade now holds the overall record, which includes both regular season and postseason games. The three-time NBA champion has made it clear that he is also interested in breaking the regular-season record as well.
With 876 blocks in his career, he has just 19 games to get the remaining 18 blocks necessary to pass Jordan’s regular season record of 893.
Whether or not he reaches that milestone remains to be seen. Either way, his name will be in the record books for years to come thanks to the incredible threshold he crossed on Monday night.
