Antoine Walker Tells Hilarious Story of Shaq Scolding Him After He Shimmied in 2006 Finals

Antoine Walker Shimmy

Former Miami Heat forward Antoine Walker recently told the story behind his iconic shimmy meme to hilarious results.

The shimmy, which took place during the pivotal Game 6 of the 2006 NBA Finals, apparently rubbed teammate Shaquille O’Neal the wrong way.

Walker said as much in a video that was posted to the team’s official Twitter page on Thursday.

“I was feeling it at that moment. We made a run. We started to open the game up and I just did it,” he said. “I remember after that, the one story about it is Shaq grabbing me, because I got fouled on the play, and telling me, ‘Do not do that s— again.'”

It’s a legendary story that likely would have never been told if fans were not starving for sports content at the moment due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Luckily, this hilarious story that lets fans into the memorable moment is now common knowledge.

Walker and O’Neal both had solid nights in that Game 6 all those years ago. Walker finished with 14 points, 11 rebounds and two assists.

O’Neal finished the night with nine points and 12 rebounds.

Of course, it was Heat legend Dwyane Wade who really powered the team that night. He finished the game with an epic 36 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, four steals and three blocks.

While O’Neal was all business on the court directly after Walker’s famous shimmy, chances are good the two champs were dancing all night long after they helped bring the first NBA title to South Florida.
