Miami Heat News: James Ennis to Have Contract Guarantee Deadline Pushed Back

James Ennis of the Miami Heat

The Miami Heat have been weighing all week on whether or not to retain James Ennis by August 1st. They now won’t have to make that decision for another three months.

Ira Winderman of The Sun Sentinel reports that Ennis and the Heat are postponing a decision on his contract until the beginning of the regular season:

The modification in Ennis’ contract means that the Heat can keep the second-year forward on the roster through training camp. The only guarantee date that now remains in his contract will be for the start of the regular season.

The Long Beach State University product had an uneven rookie season and struggled during the summer league. He is currently in Australia for a promotional tour and basketball camps.

Ennis will resume workouts scheduled by the Heat in Santa Barbara and Miami in August.
