Report: Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers ‘determined’ to find 3rd team to facilitate Jimmy Butler trade

Jimmy Butler

The Miami Heat are working to ensure that they still land Jimmy Butler this offseason despite their most recent deal with the Philadelphia 76ers and Dallas Mavericks falling apart.

According to reports, the Heat are looking for another team to keep the deal in place but most likely with different players in the mix to make it work.

Marc Stein of the New York Times added that Goran Dragic is one of the players that is reportedly being shopped around to free up the cap space needed for the Butler sign-and-trade to be finally completed.

According to The Athletic’s Tom Cato, it was a misunderstanding of the moving parts that were included in the deal with the Mavs that led to the collapse of the agreement with the Heat.

But the opportunity to land Butler is still in play for the Heat as long as they get the deal done as soon as possible.
