The 2018-19 NBA season sits right around the corner while organizations finish filling their rosters and making moves. Jimmy Butler has spent his preseason in the midst of drama surrounding his trade request and teams willing to trade for his services.
At the top of his short list of landing spots is South Beach, where the Miami Heat have been negotiating with the Minnesota Timberwolves on a potential deal for weeks. Even though the Heat have sent offers to the Timberwolves, no agreement has been made. The Timberwolves seem to either desire too much or can’t agree internally on any offer presented to them.
Trade talks stalled over the weekend, and the Timberwolves started conversations with the Houston Rockets. As no move has been made with the Rockets yet, the Heat continue to pursue the 29-year-old star.

The Houston, Texas native will have to endure rumors and reports a bit longer as the Timberwolves and Heat resume discussions. Butler averaged 22.2 points, 4.9 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game during the 2017-2018 season. He will look to best those marks this season whether he stays in Minnesota or finds himself elsewhere.
The All-Star could continue to sit out even though he has reportedly rejoined the team in Minnesota. Butler has again told Tom Thibodeau and Minnesota he wants out, but the Timberwolves won’t let that happen unless they find the perfect deal. A trade between Miami and Minnesota is still possible, but the Heat would have to give up something they don’t want to.
