LeBron James Willing to Take Pay Cut to Play with Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul

The close friendship between the Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade and former teammate LeBron James also extends to fellow NBA players Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul, which is why James is open to someday taking a pay cut so that all four can play on the same team.

Near the end of a Bleacher Report article about James and Anthony, James makes his wish clear:

“I really hope that, before our career is over, we can all play together,” James said. “At least one, maybe one or two seasons—me, Melo, D-Wade, CP–we can get a year in. I would actually take a pay cut to do that.”

James, who returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2014 after four seasons with the Heat,  and Anthony were two of the top three selections in the 2003 NBA Draft. Wade followed in the number five slot and Paul was chosen two years later. Since all of them are over the age of 30, the clock is ticking on just how long they have to make something happen.

Both James and Wade are free agents after this year, with Paul being one after the 2017-18 season and Anthony the following year. Despite such issues, James is still holding out hope:

“It would be pretty cool,” James said. “I’ve definitely had thoughts about it. We’ll see.”
