The marriage between the Miami Heat and All-Star Jimmy Butler has been nearly perfect.
During a recent Instagram Live session, Butler bloviated about how Miami is the perfect fit for him.
“I’m hella happy,” Butler said. “Without a doubt. There ain’t a better place to be for me. Miami is it. We got the right young guys, we got the right vets. [The young guys] get it. They get it and they’re thirsty to get back to hooping.
Butler, 30, signed a massive four-year, $142 million deal with the Heat last summer.
Prior to coming to the Heat, the small forward had a tumultuous 2018-19 campaign.
Although Butler started the 2018-19 season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, he infamously clashed with teammates, coaches and front office executives. As a result of the bellicose relationships, the Timberwolves dealt Butler to the Philadelphia 76ers in 2018.
While the Marquette University product took the 76ers far in the 2019 playoffs, he decided not to re-sign with the team following the postseason. Apparently, Butler didn’t believe everyone was on the same page in Philadelphia.
Now, with Butler’s tenure on the Heat, the story couldn’t be any more different. While the veteran has built great relationships with other teammates over the course of his career, he acknowledges the connections within the Heat organization are unparalleled.
“I think I built bonds with a lot of my teammates on all my former teams,” Butler said. “But this organization is special.”
On the season, Butler is putting up 20.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game.
There is no official timetable for when the 2019-20 season will resume.
