Set to begin his first full year at point guard with the Miami Heat, Goran Dragic spoke at Monday’s media day about his excitement about finally being able to play with forward Chris Bosh.
Dragic and Bosh never actually took the court together as Heat teammates last season. That’s because almost immediately after Dragic was acquired from the Phoenix Suns, Bosh was felled by blood clots that abruptly ended his season.
“It feels great that Chris is finally healthy and we can start the season together,” said Dragic. “I had the same bond with Channing Frye. The same playbook, he can shoot from outside. Chris is an upgrade, too, because he can play post-up, he can shoot the ball. Me and him can do some damage.”
For their respective careers, Dragic and Bosh have been effective players on an individual level. Dragic has averaged 12.2 points and 4.5 assists for his career, but saw those numbers elevate after being traded to the Heat: 16.6 and 5.3 respectively. Meanwhile, Bosh has averaged 19.3 points during his career, while grabbing 8.6 rebounds per game. At the time of his blood clot, Bosh was averaging 21.1 points per contest.
