James has arguably had one of the best seasons in his career, averaging 27.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, 9.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game, while shooting 54.2 percent from the field. The rebounds and assists per game set new career highs for the 33-year-old. He also played in all 82 regular season games for the first time in his career.
Harden led the Rockets to an NBA best 65-17 record as he averaged 30.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 8.8 assists and 1.8 steals per game. The Arizona State University product led the NBA in scoring for the first time in his career.
As for Davis, he averaged 28.1 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.5 steals and a league-leading 2.6 blocks per game, leading the Pelicans to the sixth seed in the Western Conference. This was the third time in his career that Davis led the league in blocks.
The winner will be announced at the NBA Awards on June 25, which will take place in Santa Monica, Calif. at the Barker Hangar. The ceremony will be nationally televised by TNT.
