Dwyane Wade is in a very different stage of his career compared to those of the vast majority of his Miami Heat teammates.
In a recent interview with Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Heat legend discussed the difficulties and gifts that have come with playing alongside much younger players.

“It has been a challenge at times to figure out when and how much to do and how much not to do,” Wade said. “I want to be part of being the young guys’ go-to, and not getting in the way of that, but there’s moments where you feel you can bring a lot to the game. There’s games where I feel like I can do it like I used to. I’ve been trying to figure it out all year. Some games, I do well with it. Some games, I don’t. Some games, it might take me out of it because I’m trying to give them their way.
“I’m just enjoying passing what I can to the next generation.”
Knowing Wade, there is no surprise that he has gotten a lot out of playing alongside the likes of Justise Winslow, Josh Richardson, Bam Adebayo and more.
The interesting shift that all Heat fans have noticed is the transition from Richardson acting as the team’s closer to Wade reassuming the role.
While Richardson had his share of clutch shots earlier in the season, no moment is ever too big for Wade, and he has proven that on several different occasions in recent matchups.
Though this is Wade’s final season in the NBA, it is likely that the lessons his younger teammates have learned by playing with him will last their entire careers.
