Following the Miami Heat’s loss to the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night, two of the team’s rising stars engaged in some trash talk on Twitter.
Celtics forward Jayson Tatum made a statement on his growing beard, but Heat big man Bam Adebayo wasn’t having any of it.
While the two youngsters appear to be mostly joking, there may have been some subliminal messages in the brief back-and-forth.
The Heat got hammered by the Celtics on Wednesday, 112-93. Although four-time All-Star Jimmy Butler popped off for 37 points and six rebounds, he didn’t have much help from anybody else on his team. Adebayo had one of his weaker games of the season with eight points and nine rebounds in 38 minutes of action.
On the opposing end, Celtics youngster Jaylen Brown put up 31 points, while guard Kemba Walker delivered 28 points and seven assists. Tatum contributed to the win with 19 points and five boards in 34 minutes of play.
Despite Adeabyo’s disappointing game on Wednesday, the center has been having his best season as a pro. In fact, the 22-year-old is putting up career-highs across the board with 13.9 points, 10.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.2 blocks per game this season.
The Heat will look to get back to their winning ways against the Washington Wizards on Friday night.
